Scottie Scheffler is Him
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler caught fire on the back nine at Le Golf National, swooping in from behind to grab the gold medal for Team USA from a pack of elite contenders in the final holes of a jaw-dropping Paris Olympics showdown.
Starting the final round four shots off the lead, Scheffler tied a course record by firing a blazing 9-under 62 on Sunday. He birdied his first three holes of the afternoon and then six of nine after the turn, including a clutch run of four in a row to secure a spot atop the leaderboard that he wouldn’t relinquish.
Scheffler’s tournament total of 19 under edged out silver-medalist Tommy Fleetwood of Great Britain by one shot. Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama (17 under) took the bronze medal.
Spain’s Jon Rahm, who led by four strokes at one point Sunday, stumbled through holes No. 11 to No. 14 at 4 over, capped by a costly double bogey on 14. Ouch.
And then there was Ireland’s Rory McIlroy. He found the water on No. 15, leading to a disastrous double bogey. Both Rory and Rahm finished T5.
Meanwhile, Scheffler seized the solo lead with a 17-foot birdie putt on No. 17, one stroke ahead of Fleetwood, who still had three holes left. After a birdie on the par-3 16th to catch Scheffler, Fleetwood drove it into the deep rough on No. 17. From off the green, his poor chip sailed too far past the hole, leading to a bogey that dropped him to 18 under.
This win made it two Olympic gold medals in a row for the U.S. men, with Scheffler matching teammate Xander Schauffele’s gold from Tokyo.

TaylorMade Takes Gold, Silver, & Bronze
The men’s golf competition at the Olympics was a nail-biter, with Scottie Scheffler clinching the gold medal by finishing with four birdies in his last five holes. He edged out Tommy Fleetwood by one shot and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, who took the bronze, by two shots.
Interestingly, all three medalists had one common piece of gear in their bags: the TaylorMade Qi10 fairway wood. Scheffler relied on a Qi10 3-wood with a Fujikura Ventus Black shaft. Fleetwood mixed things up with a Qi10 5-wood and 9-wood, while Matsuyama combined his Qi10 3-wood with a Cobra RadSpeed Tour 5-wood.
So, while we can't promise that a TaylorMade Qi10 will land you on the podium, it’s worth noting that these champions trusted it. With options like the Qi10 Tour and Qi10 Max, there’s likely a version that can elevate your game too.

LIV Golfers Continue to be Left Out
The European Ryder Cup team is shaking things up big time for the 2025 showdown at Bethpage Black. Forget the old two-list qualification—now there's just one standing, giving six automatic spots. This new system favors the global and American play over the traditional European circuit.
Points breakdown? Here you go:
- Majors: 5,000 points
- PGA Tour signature and playoff events + Players: 3,000 points
- DP World Tour Rolex series: 2,000 points
- PGA Tour regular events: 2,000 points
- DP World Tour “back 9” events: 1,500 points
- DP World Tour global events: 1,000 points
- PGA Tour opposite events: 1,000 points
LIV Golf events? Nada. Despite Jon Rahm's big move to LIV Golf, players from that league won't get points unless they keep their DP World Tour membership. So, Rahm and other LIV stars could still sneak in via majors or as captain's picks.
“This is a major milestone moment in our journey to the 2025 Ryder Cup," said new DP World Tour CEO Guy Kinnings. He praised the new system for being cleaner and simpler, crediting input from Luke Donald and his vice captains.
Qualification kicks off at the Betfred British Masters later this month and wraps up next August. Get ready, because the 2025 Ryder Cup hits Bethpage Black on September 26. Europe may be the defending champs, but they've only snagged one win in their last four away games.
