Rick Shiels Brutal Review: $2500 for a putter fitting
YouTuber Rick Shiels took a deep dive into luxury golf gear with a $2500 putter fitting from PING, and his review is a real eye-opener.
Despite the steep price, Shiels described the experience as "underwhelming" and noted that the high-end putter showed signs of aging quickly, like rusting, which doesn't quite match the premium paid. His honest feedback, shared on "The Rick Shiels Golf Show" podcast, sparked PING to propose improvements and even offer a putter replacement.
Shiels' candid take challenges whether these lavish services provide real value to the everyday golfer, suggesting they're likely better suited for the pros obsessed with marginal gains.

Scottie Scheffler Not at Quail Hollow Baby Scheffler incoming
Scottie Scheffler will not be in the field for next week’s Wells Fargo Championship as he is still waiting on his wife Meredith to deliver their first child. But that hasn't stopped him from golfing. He was caught playing at Maridoe Golf Course in Carrollton, Texas with Tony Romo. Per a member at the club, Scheffler played with Tony Romo, used a push cart and shot 67 in wet conditions.”
There is no news yet whether Sheffler will compete at the PGA Championship on May 16th, but considering he was willing to leave The Masters for the birth of his kid, its safe to say he might miss this one.

Ben Kohles choked on 18:
Allowing Taylor Pendrith to secure the bag
In a dramatic turn of events at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Taylor Pendrith clinched his first PGA Tour victory, capitalizing on Ben Kohles’ disastrous final-hole struggles.
Kohles seemed poised for victory with birdies on 16 and 17, which put him in a 1 shot lead. Then came the 18th, where he needed two chips to escape the greenside rough and then missed a crucial 6-foot putt to take it into a playoff.
Meanwhile, Pendrith stayed steady on 18, securing a birdie with a calm two-putt finish to close with a 4-under 67 and a tournament total of 23-under 261 at TPC Craig Ranch.
