DeChambeau Screwed out of 2024 Olympics
Bryson DeChambeau just clinched his second U.S. Open title at Pinehurst No. 2, and yeah, it was a nail-biter. But even with that impressive win, thereās one thing he wonāt be getting: a spot on the USA Olympic golf team for Paris 2024.
Brysonās been on fire, and this win is a testament to his skill and determination. But when it comes to the Olympics, itās all about the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). Only the top 60 players make it to the Olympic golf competition, with a maximum of four players per country if theyāre all in the top 15.
As it stands, the top Americans are Scottie Scheffler (1), Xander Schauffele (3), Wyndham Clark (5), and Collin Morikawa (7). Bryson, despite his U.S. Open victory, is sitting at 38th in the OWGR all because LIV Golf events donāt count towards OWGR points. His chances to climb the rankings are limited to the majors and a few other events.
It's a tough break for Bryson, especially after many thought he was snubbed for the 2023 Ryder Cup team. Despite his recent stellar performances, he wonāt be teeing it up in Paris this August.
Speaking of someone else who missed the Olympic team...
Patrick Cantlay, whoās now ranked 8th, needed to finish second or better at the U.S. Open to jump past Morikawa for that fourth Olympic spot. He came close but ended up finishing third while Collin finished T14.
At the end of the day, all we want to see is an American sweep in the podium. good luck men, we will be rooting for you!

Rory's U.S. Open Slip-Up:
The Misses and the Missteps
Letās dive into what went down with Rory McIlroy at the U.S. Open. Sure, Bryson DeChambeau took the win by one stroke, but Rory's Sunday was a rollercoaster of mistakes, especially those missed putts on the 16th and 18th holes and a poor tee shot on the par-3 15th. The real kicker came after the round when McIlroy bolted from Pinehurst No. 2 without speaking to the media or congratulating DeChambeau. For a player known for his class, this was a big misstep.
Pro golfers have to handle tough moments and speak to the media, who help share the game with fans. Rory usually nails this part, like last year when he finished one stroke behind Wyndham Clark at the U.S. Open in LA and still spoke to the press. His decision to skip post-round interviews this time around was disappointing and out of character. He was on his private jet 40 minutes after missing that putt on 18, heading back to South Florida.
Bryson, who knows a thing or two about tough losses, handled his recent defeat at Valhalla with grace, congratulating Xander Schauffele and talking to the media. Every great golfer has faced crushing defeats, but they own up to it and move on. Roryās a class act, and this was a rare slip-up. Hereās hoping he learns from it and continues to show the world why heās one of the best, both on and off the course.
š Here is what Rory had to say Monday š

2024 Olympic Field is Set!
The men's Olympic tournament tees off Aug. 1 at Le Golf National. The event follows the traditional tournament format with players competing in stroke play over 72 holes across four days.
This will be only the fifth time golf is part of the Summer Olympics program. The sport was out of the picture for more than a century before returning in 2016. At least one American has claimed a place on the podium in each of the four previous installments.
How to Watch:
NBC is the exclusive home of the Olympics this year. NBC says it will provide 9 hours of coverage daily on TV, but to make sure you don't miss anything, your best bet is to get the NBC Sports App to watch any event at any time.
Men's Golf starts Thursday 8/1 and finishes Sunday 8/4. The Women's tournament starts Wednesday 8/7 and ends on Saturday 8/10.

No Yardage Book = 67 on day 1 for Bryson
At some point between exiting his car at Pinehurst on Thursday morning and beginning hitting his first tee ball in the opening round of the 124th U.S. Open, Bryson DeChambeau came to the unsettling realization that he had misplaced one of his most essential tools: his yardage book.
"Must have fallen out when I got out," he would say later. "First time Iāve done that in a long time."
The situation could have been dire - especially for a player who values data more than he does oxygen - but fortunately for DeChambeau, his trusty caddie, Greg Bodine ("G-Bo"), had a back-up.
Luckily for Bryson, someone found the book and eventually it made its way back.
The contents of the pamphlet?
"Everything," he said, smiling. "All my secrets."
Shooting 3 under for the first day and then going on to win the tournament at 6 under? I'd have to agree that it had "everything"
